✦ Venus Palestine ✦
Our Story
In Gaza, a needle moves through cloth — and refuses to be silent.
WHO WE ARE
Born in Gaza. Carried by Thread.
Venus Palestine was born in Gaza, in the place the world watches yet too rarely sees. We are a cultural and solidarity initiative devoted to one ancient, living art: Tatreez — the traditional embroidery of Palestine.
For generations, our mothers and grandmothers have carried our history not in books, but in thread — each stitch a word, each pattern a sentence, each garment the memory of a village, a hand, a name that was meant to be forgotten.
THE ART OF TATREEZ
More than Ornament. It is Identity.
Tatreez is identity. It is heritage passed from one generation to the next. It is resistance worn close to the skin. When a Palestinian woman embroiders, she speaks — and through her hands, places erased from the map go on living in red and gold.
Each pattern tells the story of a village. Each colour carries a memory. Each stitch is an act of defiance — proof that a culture cannot be erased as long as hands remember.
— THE COLLECTION —
The Journey of the Survivors
Our collection is not mere inventory; it is a chronicle of survival. Many of the pieces you see today were born in the homes of Gaza as early as 2012. In a time of severe shortages, our artisans worked by the faint glow of fire and candlelight for warmth and light. These pieces were present for the most intimate moments: gentle words spoken to children, quiet fears for tomorrow, and the longing for the joy of Eid.
In 2015, these works embarked on an improbable, five-year journey of exile — smuggled through tunnels, held in transit across borders, surviving harsh conditions that claimed many of their sisters. The pieces that arrived are the “Survivors” — they carry the memory of that impossible passage, a testament to a legacy that refused to be silenced or left behind.
OUR MISSION
From Loss to Creation.
We began in pain. We did not stay there. From loss, we chose creation. From silence, we chose voice. From waiting, we chose work.
Venus Palestine turns the craft of women in Gaza into dignity, income, and presence in the world — proof that those given every reason to despair can answer, instead, with beauty.
We believe embroidery can carry what headlines cannot: a message of peace, of love, and of a people who keep creating even under siege. Every piece chosen is an act of solidarity — a thread that ties a home, somewhere in the world, to the heart of Palestine.
